What if Arlequin was an island?

Burano

The name comes from Bora, the cold and strong wind that blowing from the North bringing thunderstorms and rain. Fishermen could hardly find their way home, so they decided to paint their houses in bright and bold colours, so to make them stand out. Burano then became a little jewel, unique in its simplicity.

The wives of the fishermen spent their days working for their husbands and sons, making bisquits to sweeten up their return, and fixing their fishing nets so to keep them perfect. And fixing and sowing they created an art: that of lace, which in Burano really looks like the lather of a stormy sea.
